6 Minimalist Baby Clothes Organization Ideas

New parents might be surprised by just how quickly baby clothes and accessories can take over, from outgrown onesies to an influx of new items when the seasons change. But keeping organized in your baby’s nursery can help you keep track of what your baby has and will save you time and money in the long run.

Here are six minimalist organization hacks to help you store your baby items more effectively and simplify your routines.

1. Organize by size

Before you can store your baby’s clothes, you need to sort them into piles, so you know what you’re dealing with. Baby clothing sizes vary considerably, so it can help to organize by size so that you can easily find and replace items as your baby grows. Store them in terms of the start of the age range, so an item labeled 6m-12m should be stored in with items for 6 months. Size labels or wardrobe dividers can be incredibly helpful when you’re organizing baby clothing, so you can clearly see which size you’re looking at when you’re searching for an item–a small but very useful addition to their wardrobe when you’re trying to find something to fit them.

2. Keep outfits together

You don’t want to be sifting through piles of clothing every morning in order to put an outfit together. So, it can be helpful to put together items that can be paired up and hang them together, using clothes pegs to keep any shorts, skirts, or trousers attached to tops. It will save you time in the mornings and ensures that you have full outfits ready to go, in the right size and stored together, to make getting your baby dressed a much quicker process.

3. Keep daily items close at hand

As a parent, you want to streamline your routines as much as possible so that you don’t waste valuable time searching for things every morning. This is particularly important in the first few weeks of your baby’s growth, as you’ll feel like they’re constantly outgrowing clothing and needing the next size up.

It can help to keep the clothing and any accessories, such as socks or headbands, they’re wearing at the moment close to their changing table in a box, so they’re easy to reach and you know that it fits them. Every few weeks, you can then go through that pile of clothing and swap out anything that’s now too small.
