How to Help Your Teen Conquer Stress and Find Happiness

Anxiety and self-doubt can be such bullies.

"I know I'm going to flunk my Algebra II test, Mom. I stink at math, and I'm never going to get it. Why even bother studying?"

That's what my daughter screeched as she slammed her bedroom door. Then, she hid there for the rest of the night, not even coming out for dinner.

Outbursts like this were the norm for my now 25-year-old daughter throughout middle and high school. As encouraging as I tried to be, I felt helpless when she struggled to manage schoolwork and studying while trying to keep her life together during those pivotal teen years.

I interviewed Jodi Aman, a psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker. Jodi just released a new bookAnxiety ... I'm So Done with You: A Teen's Guide to Ditching Toxic Stress and Hardwiring Your Brain for Happiness. During our chat, she offered useful tools for parents to help their teenagers manage stress and feelings of inadequacy so they can feel happy and empowered, instead.
