6 Easy Ways to Make Varicose Veins Fade

6 Easy Ways to Make Varicose Veins Fade

Wonders of Witch Hazel

The astringency of witch hazel makes it a wonderful treatment for varicose or spider veins. As a vasoconstrictor, it shrinks and tightens veins; it also serves as an anti-inflammatory and a mild pain reliever. Store a bottle of witch hazel in the refrigerator to chill. When you’re ready, soak a small towel in the cold witch hazel and place on your leg as a compress. No witch hazel on hand? Try apple cider vinegar instead; it’s also an astringent that can constrict your swollen veins and ease soreness and discomfort in the legs. Be patient, though, as these treatments can take several weeks of regular use to have a full effect.

Stimulate Blood Flow

Here’s an easy way to help prevent those annoying spider veins on your legs. Several times a day, roll onto the balls of your feet and then your tiptoes from a standing position. Hold for a few seconds and repeat a few times. This will keep the blood flowing in your legs and prevent spider veins from forming.

Food to Get Rid of Varicose Veins

People with varicose veins have too much of a protein called fibrin, which collects in the veins and disturbs blood vessel activity. Luckily, there are foods that can help your body break up fibrin: specifically, garlic, onions, and ginger. Incorporate these flavor-packed items into stews, pastas, stir-fries, or anything you like!

The Fiber Fix

Eat more fiber! It’s crucial to preventing varicose veins: When you’re constipated, you’re more likely to stress your veins by forcing a bowel movement. Lots of healthy fiber in your diet will relieve and prevent constipation, resulting in less pressure on the toilet and less strain on your veins. Load up on delicious high-fiber foods like beans, veggies, fruits, oatmeal, and whole-wheat pastas.

Circulation-Boosting Hydrotherapy

Want to reduce the appearance of your bumpy veins? Try this easy form of hydrotherapy, which will stimulate blood flow throughout your legs. In the shower, simply aim the showerhead directly at your legs, then alternate between hot and cold water for a couple minutes each, and repeat several times. The hot temperature should be as hot as you can bear without burning your skin, and likewise for the cold.

Bedtime Pointers

Keeping your legs elevated above your heart is essential for improving circulation, so place a few pillows under your legs while you sleep. In the morning, take your time getting out of bed and give your legs and feet a good stretch.
