How to Celebrate National Cookie Day

Each year on December 4th, we celebrate one of the most delicious baked goodies ever created: the cookie.  Whether you prefer chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin, there is usually a cookie that satisfies everyone’s sweet tooth.

In honor of National Cookie Day, here are a few suggestions of how to celebrate with friends and family.

Bakery – Head to your favorite bakery and buy a dozen cookies. Try new ones that you might not normally be drawn to.

Host a Cookie Swap – The holiday season is the perfect time to participate in a cookie swap. Organize six to twelve friends or family members to participate and you’ll end up with enough yummy cookies to feast on for the entire holiday season. Check out Betty Crocker’s advice on how to have the perfect cookie exchange.

Have Cookies for Breakfast - Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not start it off with a delicious yet healthy breakfast cookie? There are many variations of oatmeal cookies that fit the bill as well as peanut butter and chopped fruit recipes.  Visit Self magazine for 12 delicious breakfast cookie recipes.

Bake Gingerbread Men – Nothing says the holidays are here like the smell of fresh gingerbread wafting through your home. Not only are gingerbread men tasty, your kids will have a ball helping to decorate them.

Cookie Pie – Try a new variation of your favorite cookie recipe as a pie.
